Almuñécar: Playa del Muerto, Cotobro, Caletilla, Peñón del Santo, San Cristóbal

This varied hike starts in Almuñécar, a charming coastal town with a history dating back to the Phoenicians. The route combines peaceful coastal paths with a stroll through the old town, where narrow streets, whitewashed houses, and tropical plants create a true Mediterranean atmosphere. It’s a great way to enjoy both nature and culture along the Costa Tropical.

We pass several beaches and landmarks, including Playa de Cotobro, the secluded Playa del Muerto, the picturesque Playa la Veintiuna, and later the historic Iglesia de la Encarnación and Castillo de San Miguel. The route also includes the iconic Peñón del Santo and the lively seafront of Playa de San Cristóbal, with the sea always within sight.

Throughout the walk, you’ll enjoy stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and the hills leading toward Marina del Este, a small marina surrounded by cliffs and crystal-clear water. This hike perfectly captures the diversity of Almuñécar, where history, seaside charm, and natural beauty come together.

We will finish the hike around 14:00 with an optional lunch or early dinner at Tandoori, a local Indian restaurant. The menu is pre-arranged at €25 per person and includes a papadum, onion bhaji, and two drinks of your choice.

For the main dish, you can choose between Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Korma, Butter Chicken, or any of these variations with lamb or prawns.

As a side dish, rice and naan bread are shared between every two people.
