This calm and accessible hike starts in the area around Ízbor, a small village in the Valle de Lecrín. From the beginning, we follow the river through a narrow and green riverside landscape, where the water continuously shapes the route. It is a relaxed walk without significant elevation gain, fully focused on the river and its valley.
We walk upstream towards the Béznar dam and the Embalse de Béznar. Along the way, we stay close to the water, alternating between riverside paths and short shaded sections through vegetation. The presence of the river makes the route varied and lively, with the sound of flowing water always present.
After reaching the dam, we return via the same route to Ízbor. If conditions allow and it is not too hot, we may continue afterwards towards the larger Embalse de Rules in the Guadalfeo valley. This impressive reservoir lies between steep mountain walls and clearly shows how water is stored and used in the region. A relaxed riverside hike where water takes centre stage.
Esta tranquila y accesible ruta de senderismo comienza en los alrededores de Ízbor, un pequeño pueblo del Valle de Lecrín. Desde el inicio seguimos el curso del río a través de un paisaje estrecho y verde junto al agua, donde el río marca constantemente el recorrido. Es una caminata relajada, sin grandes desniveles, centrada completamente en el río y su valle.
Caminamos aguas arriba hacia la presa de Béznar y el embalse de Béznar. Durante el recorrido permanecemos cerca del agua, alternando tramos junto al cauce con pasos cortos entre vegetación de ribera. La presencia del río hace que la ruta sea variada y viva, siempre acompañada por el sonido del agua.
Tras llegar a la presa, regresamos por el mismo camino hasta Ízbor. Si las condiciones lo permiten y no hace demasiado calor, después podemos continuar hacia el embalse de Rules, en el valle del río Guadalfeo. Este gran embalse se encuentra entre paredes de montaña muy pronunciadas y muestra claramente cómo se almacena y aprovecha el agua en la región. Una ruta tranquila junto al río donde el agua es la protagonista.
